Our Approach
How we work
Proximal Zones

Proximate Learning focuses on proximal zones, which are optimal areas for learning and development where professionals are challenged enough to grow but not so much that they become overwhelmed, frustrated, or disengaged.
Every organization has proximal zones that help in identifying gaps between individual performance and what can be accomplished collectively with guidance in the form of a mentor, teacher, or coach. Proximal zones are essential to workforce development. Using our assessment process, we uncover not only the areas for development but also the time, place, and people that are needed to build new skills in professionals' everyday work life.
A Proximate Approach

Our approach emphasizes scaffolding, where support is gradually reduced as professionals gain competence. We combine elements of human-centered, strengths-based design with agile learning concepts to create adaptive environments in which employees, teams, and leaders thrive. The result is the application of new concepts, knowledge, skills on the job. Widely used, a proximate approach to talent development creates a culture of learning across the organization.
